Kagitora, Hina Dolls Festival

Hina Dolls Festival

The Hina Doll Festival (also known as the Peach Festival) is a celebration for girls held on March 3rd. The dolls are displayed starting from the beginning of spring, and there are some traditional sayings from my grandmother:

1, Start displaying the dolls on a sunny day.
2, It is considered bad luck to display the dolls the day before the festival.
3, After the festival, put the dolls away on a sunny day as soon as possible, or else marriage will be delayed.

These sayings might seem laughable now, right? Despite that, I always wanted to keep the dolls displayed for as long as possible.
I also loved the seven-tiered Hina dolls that my grandparents bought for me and displayed them every year. My parents were strict about putting them away the day after the festival…
Unfortunately, the cherished Hina dolls were damaged by a typhoon that hit our house when I was in middle school. It is a truly sad memory.
The faces of the Hina dolls seem to change slightly with each era. Among them, there are subtle differences in appearance. When I became an adult and looked at the dolls to buy one for myself, their faces were not the ones I remembered. They seemed unfamiliar. The faces I remember are those of the dolls my grandparents bought for me, not the ones of the current era.
Someday, if I find a Hina doll with a face that I love, I will definitely buy it. Although I am no longer a little girl, I will always love what I love.
