This suiboku with light color ink painting comes with the original sign, seals and Authenticity Guarantee Box.
It was painted in before 1923.
Painter: Yoshida Houu (1859 – 1923)
A haiku poet from Jikeimachi, Namerikawa City, Toyama Prefecture (formerly Jikei Village until 1911)
He carried on Matuso Basho (1644-1694)’s flow.
He presided over the haiku association “Fugetsukai” that was established in 1886 throughout Meiji to Taisho periods
Appraiser: Okutani Shuseki (1871 – 1936)
Born in Osaka Prefecture. His real name was Tsunejiro. He studied the Maruyama school under Mori Kansai (1814-1894) .
He exhibited and won awards many times at the Youth Painting Association and the Japan Painting Association. He was also the painting teacher of Tantansai Soshitsu, the 14th head of the Urasenke tea ceremony school (1893-1964) .
He opened a private painting school and trained disciples. He was a famous Japanese painter from Meiji to early Showa periods. He was also known as an appraiser including his painting master, Mori Kansai.
The haiku poem says that I sowed the seeds and the rooster follows me to peck them.
