Tokamachi Tsumugi is produced in Tokamachi City and Tsunanmachi, Nakanuma Area in Nigata, Japan.
There areas have very heavy snow during wintertime and are suitable for textile production.
Tokamachi textile has changed materials from linen to silk since Meiji period (1868-1921).
We got this whole bolt from our relative. It is handwoven and rare pattern.
