Vintage Bizen Chaire Tea Caddy, 2nd Konishi Touko, Konishi Touko Kiln, Taikai Chaire, Sangiri, Yohen, Bizen ware, Unused,

Bizen ware is one of Japan’s traditional pottery traditions and originated in the former Bizen Province, present-day Okayama Prefecture. Konishi Touko is particularly associated with Sangiri.
The Sangiri technique was developed in 1926 by the first-generation artists Mimura Toukei and Konishi Touko.

This Taikai Chaire was made by 2nd Konishi Touko (1927-2018).
She succeeded her father, 1st Konishi Touko, as 2nd Konishi Touko in 1954 after his death.
Since 2019, the kiln’s works have been produced by craftsmen under the kiln master, Konishi Tozo.

The exact age could not be confirmed because it belonged to our relative in Okayama, Japan.
She told us that it was unused, and we found no visible signs of use.

It is suitable for use in the Japanese tea ceremony.
The surface shows varied Bizen colors and firing effects.
It comes with its original lid, original shifuku, Tomobako (original signed paulownia box), an artist-provided leaflet, and an artist-provided note identifying the shifuku fabric pattern.
