ABizen ware is one of famous Japanese pottery and also has a history more than 1,000 years.
Shoji Takahara is an excellent Bizen ware artist who studied under the masters Yozan Isezaki and Furo Ishii. He uses traditional techniques of climbing kiln firing and wheel throwing, resulting in Bizen ware with a good thickness and suitable weight. The color and texture are very wild, beautiful and attractive in the unique style of Bizen. His tea caddies are rarely seen in the market.
1941: Born in Okayama Prefecture.
1958: Studied under Yozan Isezaki (1902-1961).
1962: Studied under Furo Ishii (1899-1964).
Selected for the Japan Crafts Association East China Branch Exhibition (and many more thereafter).
1965: Built a kiln and became independent.
1968: Won the Sanyo Newspaper Award at the Japan Crafts Association East China Branch Exhibition.
1971: Selected for the first Japan Ceramics Exhibition.
It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age.
It comes with original lid, original shifuku, original paulownia box. (Unused or Very less used)
We got it from our friend. She was Tea Caddies’ collector and she kept it for long time.
