Bizen ware is one of famous Japanese pottery. It is from Bizen province (Okayama, Japan).
Shibuta Toshiaki is very famous and the great Bizen artist.
【Brief Biography】
1957 Born in Kobe City
1980 Graduated from Musashino Art University, Department of Industrial and Craft Design. Studied under Kanzan Takatori, a traditional craftsman of Bizen-yaki.
1983 Joined Bizen-yaki kiln, Bizen Toen.
1992 Started activities as a Bizen artist.
1989 Selected for the Issuikai Pottery Exhibition.
1990 Selected for the Issuikai Pottery Exhibition.
1991 Selected for the Issuikai Pottery Exhibition.
Won the Excellence Award at the “Tea Ceremony Form Exhibition” at Tanabe Art Museum. Selected for the Yakishime Pottery Public Exhibition.

It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age with original paulownia box, original cloth and original guide papers. (Unused)
We got it from our friend’s mother in Kyoto.
It is his early works when he held a solo exhibition at Bizen Gallery Aoyama in 1998.
There are many collectors even in Japan. Therefore, his works are rarely seen on the market except his exhibition.
We do not see any sign of using. However it is light discoloration on the original box.
