Atsuo Yabe was born in 1941 in Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture. He was the third son of the Living National Treasure Tousyuu Yamamoto and took the Yabe surname from his mother’s side in his childhood. After training under his father, he built his own kiln and became independent. He has won numerous awards at the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition and other exhibitions. He is a regular member of the Japan Craft Association.
1941 Born in 1941 in Inbe, Bizen City, Okayama Prefecture, as the third son of Living National Treasure Tousyuu Yamamoto.
1968 Study Bizen pottery under his father, Tousyuu Yamamoto.
1973- Won the Okayama Prefecture Exhibition and the Japan Traditional Crafts Central Branch Exhibition. (He won many more times since 1973).
1974 Built his own kiln.
1981- Selected for the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition (Selected many times since then).
1982 Won the Gengakai Exhibition Sanyo Broadcasting Award.
1985 Selected for the Chunichi International Ceramics Exhibition.
1987 Became a regular member of the Japan Craft Association.
1993 Won the Gengakai Exhibition.
1996 Won the Bihgeikai Exhibition NHK Okayama Broadcasting Station Director’s Award.
1997 Selected for the Yakishime Pottery Public Exhibition.
1998 Selected for the 7th Chano-yu Zokei Exhibition in 1998.
1999 Won the Gengakai Exhibition Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award.
2017 Passed away.
It is very beautiful Bizen with Sangiri, Yohen, Goma, Haikaburi, Koge and Stone Burst.
It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age with original lid, original shifuku, original guide paper and original paulownia box. (Unused or Very less used)
We got it from our friend who loves Bizen.
As for Shifuku, it is expensive. Because it is used the fabric made in Tatsumura Textile. They are most famous Art Textile company in Japan.
