This lacquer Natsume tea caddy is made by Taniuchi Kazunori (Issoku) (Shiko)
It belonged to our father.
Taniuchi Kazunori (Issoku) (Shiko)
Born in March 1956.
1971 Enrolled in the Woodcraft (Maki-e) Department at Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Technical High School.
1974 Graduated from Wajima Technical High School. Became an apprentice to Maki-e master Muraki Bunzaburo.
1980 He was independent of Master Muraki after six years of learning Maki-e.
1980 Received an award the Grand Prize at the Traditional Craft Wajima Lacquerware Exhibition.
1980 Received the Chairman’s Award from the Wajima Lacquerware Technology Preservation Society.
1980 Received an award the Union Leader’s Award for Maki-e.
1983 Received the Chairman’s Award from the Wajima City Council at the Traditional Craft Wajima Lacquerware Exhibition.
1989 Received an award the Excellence Prize at the Wajima Lacquerware Exhibition.
1990 First selected for the Tankosha ’90 Tea Ceremony Art Exhibition for the Future.
It is unused in excellent vintage condition consistent with age with original paulownia box, original cloth, original guide paper and original paper box.
We do not see any sign of using.
It is also used Unryu Washi Paper’s technique.
Unryu Washi Paper is one of Echizen Washi Papers.
It is representative of Japanese Washi Papers.
This washi paper has been made in Echizen City, Fukui Prefecture since the Taisho period.
It is made by Kouzo (the bark of a paper mulberry tree) into long pieces and straining them to create washi paper with beautiful cloud-like patterns.
You are able to use this Tea Caddy for Tea Ceremonies.
