Fukuro obi is less formal than a maru obi. It is made by sewing two pieces of obi fabric together. The front visible when worn of the fukuro obi is silk brocade with metallic threads. The backside and other invisible when worn is normally smooth and plain colored silk.
Normal fukuro obi is called Rokutsu (60% Fukuro Obi).
60% of the length on the front side has patterned brocade and remaining 40% is smooth and plain colored silk as same as the back side.
When you want fully patterned brocade obi, you need look for Maru Obi (fully patterned brocade on the both sides) or Zentsu (100% Fukuro Obi – fully patterned brocade on the front side).
This Zentsu obi is fully patterned from our relative.
It is unused in excellent vintage condition consistent with age.
It is suitable for bed runners, table runners and wall hanging tapestries.
