It was a question that we sold Shigaraki Ware by Furutani Michio. The customer recognized light raw sienna color is Shigaraki. However Furutani Micho’s work was big different. It looked like Bizen ware for him. Bizen Clay is fine grains and strong tenacity. Then it brings a unique dull luster with a burnt brown color. Shigaraki clay on the right is characterized by a redness called Shigaraki’s unique scarlet color and feldspar that blows out white. But sometimes colors and textures are very similar to Iga and Bizen. Quote from Yohen and Yakishimetou (1999, ISBN 9784062677530)
