We found this “KOGO” in our warehouse belong to our mother.
It is made by one of famous Kyo ware’s master craftman, 3rd Kato Risho.

His real name is Yoshio.
Born in Kyoto in 1946 (Showa 21), he is the eldest son of the second generation Risho.
From 1969 (Showa 44), he studied under the 16th generation Eiraku Sokuzen (1917-1998) and became proficient in Kyoto ware tea ceramics.
In 1979 (Showa 54), he succeeded the name of the third generation Kato Risho.
In 1985 (Showa 60), he received the Kyoto Traditional Art Merit Award.
The first and second generations were engaged in the dyeing of general tableware.
However, the third generation Risho, after learning the tea ceremony, aspired to tea ceramics and independently mastered various techniques such as wheel throwing, dyeing, painting, Kenzan, and Kōchi.
Nevertheless, the tea ceremony, which values tradition and history, is a narrow world, and pioneering this path required extraordinary determination and effort.
