Shino ware is a type of Mino ware produced in the southeastern part of Gifu Prefecture. This type of pottery ware was usually decorated with underglaze iron painting and covered with white feldspathic glaze. Yamaguchi Shigeru (1925~) born in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture as the second son of 1st Yamaguchi Joutetsu.
His Oribe ware has inherited the characteristics of his father.
He mainly creates tea pottery such as tea bowls, pitchers, and hand bowls made and others by Shino, Kiseto, Setoguro, Koseto and other technique.
His elder brother is 2nd Yamaguchi Joutetsu, and his son is the ceramic artist Shigenobu Yamaguchi (1954-).
This tea bowl is unused with original paulownia box and original cloth.
It is beautiful shape and beautiful Shino surface.
