Bizen ware is a type of traditional Japanese pottery from the former Bizen Province in present-day Okayama Prefecture.
Kamura Koudo was born in 1930; his birth name is Saburo.
He studied Bizen ware under Matono Motomu and later became a pupil of Yamamoto Toushu (1906-1994) in 1978.
He became independent in 1981.
His work received awards at Japanese traditional craft exhibitions and other exhibitions from 1982 onward.
It comes with its Tomobako (original signed paulownia box), its Tomonuno (original artist-stamped cloth), and an artist-provided leaflet.
We acquired it from a relative in Okayama, who told us it had not been used.
We found no signs of use.
