The Chashaku Tea Scoop was named “Kangetsu (Kanduki)” by Hashimoto Jyousho.
1962 He graduated Hanazono University
1962 He studied Rinzai school and Zen in Taitokuji Senmon Doujou.
He became a pupil of Oda Sessou (1901-1966) Roshi.
He was given names “Jyousho” and “Kendo” by Fujii Seido Roshi (previous the chief abbot of Daitokuji Sangenin).
1965 He became a priest of Yagyu Houtokuji
1973 He became a chief priest of Yagyu Houtokuji succeed to Hashimoto Teihou
The direct meaning of Kangatsu (Kanduki) is Cold Moon.
It comes from “Niwa Samukushite Gesshoku Fukashi 庭寒月色深”.
The original meaning of writing words is “When the temperature drops, the garden is filled with cold air.
Then the moonlight shines clearer and deeper color in here.”.
The meaning of Zen Word is “When the suffering, anger, and all thought distraction in people’s minds disappear, they have a state of calm.
And the true nature of people shine even more brightly and become more vibrant.”.

Sojun Okuda is a famous bamboo craftsman. It is known that he was asked to shave off the bottom of the tea scoop by famous monks.
It is also known that he was often asked to do so by Shodo Maeda, Jyousho Hashimoto, Meido Togami, and others.
This Chashaku Tea Scoop is perfect shape and shimitake colors with beautiful nature patterns.
It is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age. (Very less used)
It comes with original tube, original paulownia box and original paper box with title.
