Pair of Vintage Bizen Tea Cups, Japanese Tea Cups, Bizen Yaki, Sangiri, Blue Bizen, Shibaoka Shusen, Unused,
Bizen ware is a Japanese pottery tradition associated with present-day Okayama Prefecture.
These cups were made by Shibaoka Shusen (1948-). He was born as the second son of 1st Shibaoka Kozan; his given name was Hideo. He graduated from Tokai University in 1972 and began studying Bizen pottery under his father and elder brother in 1974. He established himself independently in 1985 and has been active within Bizen ceramic associations.
The pair comes with its Tomobako (original signed paulownia box) and an artist-provided leaflet.
The pair came from a friend, who found it in her family’s warehouse. There are no visible signs of use.
