Overall condition is in very good antique condition consistent with age. (Used / Remounted 1980s)
This suiboku with light color ink painting comes with the original sign, seals and Authenticity Guarantee Box.
It was painted in 1920.
Remounted around 1980s.

Painter: Yukimatsu Shunpo (1897-1962)
Born in Oita City, Oita Prefecture in 1897. Real name is Iroku.
Studied Nanga in Oita under Sakuma Chikuho (1976-1925) and Shin Beiyo.
In 1915, he moved to Osaka and became a student of the Japanese painter Himejima Chikugai (1840-1928).
In 1920, he was selected for the 2nd Teiten Exhibition for the first time.
From 1921 to 1936, he exhibited at Nippon Nangain every year
In 1926 and 1927, he won the Teiten Special Selection Award.
From 1928, he was recommended at the Teiten Exhibition without inspection. He was mainly active in exhibitions sponsored by the Japanese government and continued to exhibit at Nitten (formerly Teiten) after World War II.

Appraiser: Fujii Zuikei(1908-1990)
He born in Gifu Prefecture in 1908 and lived in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto.
He is the son of Fujii Zuiun of the Nanga school painter.
He studied under Tanaka Hakuin (1866-1934) and was specialized in landscapes and flowers and birds.

He is a member of the Japan Nanga Academy and won the Japan Nanga Academy special award twice and the chairman’s award.
He also won the Kyoto Prefectural Governor’s award.
Member of the Heian Nanga Art World Committee. Nanrinsha Doujin. Traveled abroad 3 times.

Not only was he good at landscapes and flowers and birds, but he was also excellent at appraising works, because his teacher Tanaka Hakuin was a leading expert in appraising works.
Fujii Zuikei and Yukimatsu Shunpo belonged to the same Nihon Nanga Academy.

Fujii Zuikei wrote that he appraised this hanging scroll for later study.
