Vintage Bamboo Pair Futaoki Lid Rest With Kao, Daitokuji Temple, Fukumoto Sekio, Sochiku, A pair of Futaoki for Ro and Furo,
MF-070601

Fujimoto Sekio (1930) born in Kyoto.
He studied Rinzai school and Zen under Souou Washo.
He was ordained by Souou Washoo at Yotokuin Temple in 1940.
He became a pupil of Moriyama Kankei (Seikyoken Kankei Roshi), chief priest of Daitokuji Temple and he also studied meditation in Mino Kokei Dojo in 1949.
He was appointed to the chief priest of Shoshunji Temple in 1959.
He was also appointed to the chief priest of Horinji Temple from 1983 to 2004.
He was appointed to the chef priest of Shoshunji Temple in 2004, again

He is one of one of famous priests in Daitokuji Temple.

Master Sochiku was a skilled bamboo artisan associated with Daitokuji Temple.
He was a master craftsman and created tea utensils using various techniques, including tea scoops, tea lid and other bamboo works.
He worked as a master carpenter for Daitokuji Temple’s highest priests especially Fukumoto Sekio, Sato Bokudo, and Nishigaki Taido.
After he retired, Kagebayashi Soutoku became a master carpenter of Fujimoto Sekio.
