Vintage Unused Silk Kurotomesode Fukuro Obi, Japanese Kimono Sash Belt, Flower Basket with Flowing Water Patterns, Unused,
Fukuro Obi is less formal than Maru Obi. It is constructed by sewing the patterned front fabric to a plain backing. A standard Rokutsu Fukuro Obi has patterned brocade across approximately 60% of the front, with the remaining portion left plain. A Zentsu Fukuro Obi is patterned across the full front, while a Maru Obi is patterned on both sides.
This Kurotomesode Fukuro Obi came from a relative, who purchased it for her Kurotomesode. It is woven in silk with metallic threads and features the Rusui Hanakago design in Karaori. It may be worn with kimono and is also suitable for use as a bed runner, table runner, or wall hanging.
